I am a Professor and Researcher at the University of Guadalajara, Mexico, with more than 17 years of academic experience. I hold a Ph.D. in Public Health Sciences and completed a postdoctoral fellowship focused on Nutrition and Physical Activity at Curtin University, Australia. I am a Member of Mexico’s National System of Researchers (Candidate) and serve as Director of Research and Scientific Development at the Iberoamerican Institute of Sport and Human Movement Sciences (IICDEM).
My academic background includes a specialization in Sports Nutrition by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), a Master’s Degree in Human Dietetics and Nutrition with a focus on Sports Nutrition from the University of Cádiz, and Level III certification by the International Society for the Advancement of Kinanthropometry (ISAK).
I have led several undergraduate and graduate programs in nutrition and sports sciences and held leadership roles in national and Latin American nutrition associations, including the Sociedad Latinoamericana de Nutrición (SLAN) and the Colegio Mexicano de Nutriólogos.
As a researcher, I have co-authored multiple peer-reviewed publications in journals such as Advances in Nutrition, International Journal of Molecular Sciences, and Public Health Nutrition, addressing issues ranging from food insecurity and dietary assessment technologies to clinical and anthropometric evaluation in diverse populations. I have also contributed to academic books and educational materials in clinical and sports nutrition.
Currently, I lead doctoral research projects in areas such as anthropometric predictors of cardiometabolic risk, dietary diversity and mental health, and modeling of energy expenditure during physical activity. I actively participate in academic and scientific networks such as the Red Iberoamericana de Investigación en Antropometría Aplicada (RIBA2) and the Red Mexicana de Investigación sobre Actividad Física, Sueño y Sedentarismo (REMAISS).
