Mercy Sosanya (Ph.D) is a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences, at the University at Buffalo, New York. Originally from Nigeria, Mercy earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in human nutrition from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. With extensive experience as a lecturer and former Head of the Nutrition and Dietetics Department at the Federal Polytechnic in Bauchi, Nigeria, Mercy has authored 16 journal publications and presented scientific papers at international conferences. Her research centers on exploring the multidimensional determinants of malnutrition and food insecurity and designing appropriate interventions that leverage technology and existing community resources to alleviate undernutrition in underserved communities. Currently, Mercy is conducting a comprehensive assessment to determine what information and resources parents need for child nourishment and care. Mercy is a Fellow of TechWomen, a program of the US Department of State, and a Schlumberger Foundation Faculty for the Future Fellow. She is also an International Fellow of the American Association of University Women and an International Peace Scholar of the PEO Foundation.
