Dr. Karla Nuño holds a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and a Master’s degree in Food Science from the University of Guadalajara, and earned her Ph.D. in the Use, Management, and Preservation of Natural Resources from the Center for Biological Research of the Northwest (CIBNOR). She is a Level 1 member of Mexico’s National System of Researchers (SNI). Currently, she serves as a Research Professor at the Western Institute of Technology and Higher Education (ITESO), where she leads research in the fields of functional foods and microbiology. Her academic contributions include publications in scientific and outreach journals, book chapters, and authored books. She has supervised undergraduate and graduate theses and leads research projects funded by state and national educational and scientific institutions in Mexico. Her work has been recognized by the Latin American Society of Nutrition and the International Committee on Food Microbiology and Hygiene (ICFMH) of the International Union of Microbiological Societies (IUMS).
