Anali Morales is a fourth-year Ph.D. candidate in Dr. Heather Eicher-Miller’s lab at the Purdue Interdepartmental Nutrition Program. Her research focuses on improving dietary behaviors and nutrition education among food-insecure populations. Her dissertation includes analysis of nationally representative data to evaluate dietary behavior differences by food security status. Anali also proposed and leads a literature review examining how food insecurity influences eating behaviors and dietary quality—work that is particularly relevant to national efforts to define and measure nutrition security. In addition, she leads a USDA-funded randomized controlled trial evaluating the impact of a federal nutrition education program. By integrating research, outreach, and policy relevance, Anali’s work is advancing the fields of nutrition education, dietary behavior, and public health.
