Diane Stadler is a Professor of Medicine and the Director of the Graduate Programs in Human Nutrition at Oregon Health & Science University. She received her PhD in Human Nutrition from the University of Iowa, an MS in Nutrition Science from Virginia Tech, and a BS from Davidson College. She is a registered dietitian with expertise in maternal and infant nutrition. She completed a post-graduate fellowship at the Kennedy Krieger Institute & Johns Hopkins Hospital and specializes in the design and implementation of dietary interventions for children with congenital or acquired developmental disabilities or metabolic disorders. She has worked in Zambia, Africa, and with non-profit organizations serving rural communities in eastern Honduras to train community members to monitor the growth of infants and young children, to initiate school-based meal programs, and to enhance maternal health. She helped launch the OHSU-Lao Nutrition Education & Research Initiative in Vientiane, Lao PDR, which trained the country’s first hospital-based clinical nutrition specialists. As the Director of the Graduate Programs in Human Nutrition and Dietetic Internship, Dr. Stadler is a leader in OHSU’s nutrition education initiatives and research mentoring programs in the School of Medicine. Her research portfolio includes designing and carrying out tightly controlled metabolic feeding studies, community-based behavioral interventions, and school-based environmental interventions to explore the impact of dietary patterns on weight, body composition, and weight regulation markers. She is currently working with OHSU's Pacific Northwest Evidence-Based Practice Center to design and conduct nutrition-related systematic reviews. She is the past-Chair of the Academic Nutrition Departments and Programs (ANDP) and is a member of the Global Interest Group, among other affiliations.
