Lidan Gao is a PhD candidate in the Department of Nutritional Sciences at the University of Connecticut. Her research focuses on the protective effects of dietary sphingolipids in inflammatory bowel disease and metabolic-associated steatohepatitis (MASH). She utilizes preclinical mouse models, dietary interventions, and integrative techniques including lipidomics and immune cell profiling to explore how bioactive lipids modulate gut-liver inflammation. Her long-term goal is to advance translational nutrition research to develop effective dietary strategies for chronic disease prevention and management.
