Post Doctoral Research Fellow
McMaster University, Canada
Dr. Everson A. Nunes holds a B.Sc. in Biological Sciences with a major in Human Physiology (2003) and a B.Sc. in Human Nutrition (2007) from the Universidade Federal do Paraná in Curitiba, Brazil. He also earned a M.Sc. (2005) and a Ph.D. (2009) in Cellular and Molecular Biology, with a concentration in Human Physiology, from the same institution.
From 2010 to 2019, Dr. Nunes served as a faculty member—first as Assistant Professor and later as Associate Professor—at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, where he led the Laboratory of Investigation of Chronic Diseases. In 2019, he joined the Protein Metabolism Research Laboratory at McMaster University (Hamilton, ON, Canada) as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow under the supervision of Dr. Stuart Phillips.
Dr. Nunes's research integrates pre-clinical models and human clinical trials to explore the effects of dietary supplements, physical activity, and whole-diet interventions on health-related outcomes. His work primarily focuses on nutrient metabolism across various physiological and pathological conditions, including obesity, type 2 diabetes, cancer, and aging. He has a particular interest in the metabolic functions of key tissues such as skeletal muscle, liver, and adipose tissue.
