Dr. Raedeh Basiri is an assistant professor in the Department of Nutrition and Food Studies at George Mason University. Her research focuses on leveraging new technologies to prevent and delay the onset of type 2 diabetes and obesity, improve disease management, and reduce the risk of related complications such as cardiovascular diseases. Dr. Basiri’s earlier work demonstrated that nutrition interventions have significant positive effects on wound healing in patients with diabetic foot ulcers, with one case leading to the prevention of a lower-limb amputation. Her current research centers on improving outcomes for individuals with prediabetes who are overweight or obese through technology-driven dietary interventions. In addition to her academic work, Dr. Basiri is a registered dietitian with extensive experience in inpatient and outpatient clinical settings. She is also the founder and former president of a Nutrition and Dietetics Specialty Clinic, where she provided personalized nutrition counseling to individuals with a variety of health and dietary needs.
