Imtiaz Hussain is an Assistant Professor of Research in the Department of Pediatrics and Child Health and head of research Operations -Centre of Exclence in Women and Child Health at Aga Khan University. With 23 years of experience in public health, he has led large-scale coverage surveys and evaluation studies across Pakistan and beyond, particularly in the areas of immunization, nutrition, and maternal and child health. He holds a Master’s degree in Sociology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Administration, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Public Health.
His expertise includes survey design and implementation, research capacity building, data quality assurance, progress tracking and reporting, and stakeholder engagement. Imtiaz has successfully managed multiple grants funded by organizations such as the Foundation, WHO, UNICEF, GAVI, and the World Bank. His research interests include health systems strengthening for MNCAH, polio seroprevalence studies, and the use of technology to conduct nationwide health surveys. Imtiaz has co-authored over 40 peer-reviewed publications in several high-impact journals, including Vaccine, American Journal of Clinical Nutrition (AJCN), BMJ Open, and BMC Public Health. He also presented his research at international conferences, such as the Pediatric Academic Societies (PAS), American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH), American Society of Nutrition (ASN), and the International Society for Urban Health (ISUH). He is also actively involved in teaching and training, having trained numerous field staff and facilitated workshops in Pakistan as well as in countries including Afghanistan and Eritrea.
