Postdoctoral Associate
Boston University School of Medicine
I am trained as a registered dietitian and a nutritional epidemiologist and am currently a post-doctoral fellow at Boston University Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine. Over the years, I have carried out several longitudinal studies of diet and its role as a modifiable risk factor in the life-course progression of obesity-related diseases, including cancer, liver disease, and cardiovascular disease. Throughout my training, I gained expertise in developing and computing numerous food- and nutrient-based scoring systems using the SAS statistical programming language. I have focused on applying complex methodologic approaches to answer such questions in large prospective datasets, including the Framingham Heart Study, the Black Women’s Health Study, and the NHLBI Growth and Health Study. Our work has been published in several distinguished nutrition-related journals. In addition, I have collaborated with other researchers carrying out mechanistic studies on a molecular level as well as patient-oriented clinical research in different population groups such as breast cancer survivors, firefighters, and adolescent girls. At the same time, I have served as a teaching and mentoring assistant to graduate students. My long-term career goal is to become an independent multidisciplinary research scientist and faculty member, conducting important translational research that will inform public health and dietary policy.
