Antonio Carlos Ramos, Ph.D., is a Postdoctoral Associate at the USDA/ARS Children’s Nutrition Research Center at Baylor College of Medicine, working in Dr. Teresa Davis’s lab. His research investigates the persistence and underlying mechanisms of insulin and amino acid resistance in skeletal muscle following premature birth, using a preterm piglet model. Antonio earned his Ph.D. in Animal Science from Cornell University, where his doctoral research focused on the potential of fibroblast growth factor-21 (FGF21) to resolve insulin resistance in ruminants. He also holds a Master’s degree in Animal Science and Pastures from the University of São Paulo and a Bachelor's degree in Animal Science from the Federal University of Minas Gerais. Antonio’s work aims to advance the understanding of metabolic dysregulations related to anabolic resistance and develop therapeutic approaches to resolve them, benefiting both animal agriculture and human health.
