Jack Odle, PhD (he/him/his)

Dr. Odle is WNR Distinguished Professor of Animal Science at North Carolina State University. He received a BS from Purdue and MS and Ph.D from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After five years at the University of Illinois, he joined NC State in 1995 and was named William Neal Reynolds Distinguished Professor in 2005. He is a member of the Genomics, Biotechnology and Nutrition Faculties, and the Center for Comparative Medicine. His laboratory utilizes piglets to study problems relevant to both production agriculture and medical science. Dr. Odle has received numerous awards from animal and human nutrition research societies including the ILSI Future Leader Award, Young Investigator Awards, the Non-ruminant Nutrition Award, the Animal Growth & Development Award, the New Frontiers in Animal Nutrition Award, a Distinguished Alumnus Award from Purdue University, and he is a Research Fellow of the American Society of Animal Science and the American Society for Nutrition. Dr. Odle has garnered >$14M in research funding and has published his research in a collection of 450 papers, abstracts and reports. He has mentored 65 graduate students, postdocs and scholars and has served on graduate committees of another 80 students. He has taught advanced graduate courses in Vitamin Metabolism and in Regulation of Metabolism for which he was named Outstanding Graduate Instructor. Dr. Odle’s reputation has grown to include international collaborations, consulting opportunities, and Society leadership, where he helped launch three new journals, including Current Developments in Nutrition for which he is Editor-in-Chief. Jack and his wife, Willa, have two adult children and three grandchildren living in Raleigh, NC.
