Kristin Baumann is an Associate Professor in the Department of Dental Hygiene at Georgia Highlands College and the Clinic Coordinator for first-year dental hygiene students. She has more than 20 years of experience in dental hygiene education. Her teaching responsibilities include preclinical and clinical dental hygiene, dental pharmacology, and community dental health.
Kristin received an A.S. in Dental Hygiene from Floyd College and has been a registered dental hygienist for over 21 years, working in general and pediatric dentistry. She earned a Master of Public Health with a concentration in Health Management from Augusta University. She is pursuing a Ph.D. in Health Sciences with a concentration in Nutrition at Georgia State University.
Her research focuses on health disparities and their impact on vulnerable populations, particularly how food insecurity influences oral health outcomes and how diet and nutritional choices affect oral and periodontal health in children and the geriatric population.
Kristin is a member of multiple professional dental and health associations, including the American Dental Education Association, the American Dental Hygienists’ Association, the Georgia Dental Hygienists’ Association, the American Society for Nutrition, and the American Public Health Association. In 2023, Kristin was selected as an inaugural American Dental Hygienists Association (ADHA) Professional Fellows Program member.
