Dr Marieke Vossenaar is a nutrition specialist with 20 years of experience in international nutrition research, with a focus on dietary assessment and food-based interventions for improved nutrition in low- and middle-income countries using both quantitative and qualitative methods. She is currently a full-time senior technical consultant at Intake the Center for Dietary where she provides technical assistance for all aspects of dietary surveys and has contributed towards the development of capacity-building tools and guidance materials and to Intake’s vision, strategy, and fundraising efforts. Before joining Intake, she served as the senior program leader for diet and health at the Center for Studies of Sensory Impairment, Aging and Metabolism (CeSSIAM) in Guatemala for almost 10 years, strengthening nutrition research capacity to improve maternal, infant and young child nutrition. She has served as a consultant for international organizations dedicated to strengthening global efforts to scale up high-impact nutrition practices and policies, such as the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), Sight and Life Foundation, Strengthening Partnerships, Results, and Innovations in Nutrition Globally project (SPRING), MicroNutrient Initiative (MI) and others. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and can work effectively in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese and Dutch. She is based in Geneva, Switzerland.
