Dr. Martha Tamez is a distinguished Research Fellow in the Department of Nutrition at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She holds a B.A. in Nutrition and Wellbeing from the Monterrey Institute of Technology (Mexico City, Mexico) and an M.S. in Nutrition from the Mexican National Institute of Public Health (Cuernavaca, Mexico). Dr. Tamez completed her Sc.D. in Nutrition at Harvard University in 2020 and subsequently advanced her training as a T32 Postdoctoral Fellow in Cardiovascular Epidemiology.
Dr. Tamez's research focuses on nutritional epidemiology among Hispanic/Latino populations, with a particular emphasis on examining the relationships between diet quality, traditional Latino dietary patterns, lifestyle behaviors, and cardio-metabolic health outcomes. By leveraging population-based studies, her work seeks to provide insights that can inform culturally tailored dietary interventions and public health strategies aimed at reducing health disparities in these communities.
